Joy. A word I really try to live by, as you know with my platform #thisjoyfuljourneyofmine. It has helped me in every facet of this heart aching journey. Joy encompasses positivity and from that you can do anything you put your mind to. I’m living proof of that. It’s not to say that there aren’t moments that lack joy. Of course there are, but I try my best to stay optimistic and push through those moments. I am wishing you a joyous season, no matter the circumstances. If it is especially a tough year, know I am thinking of you and sending you love and light when it is needed most.
Last year was that year for me. Losing my Mom rocked my world in every way. Growing up as an only child I only had my parents. How was I to go from calling and talking to my Mom every single day to living life without my best friend? A true learning experience, as I had to figure out a way to navigate through life. It started with getting by minute-by-minute to hour-by-hour and now day-by-day.
The holiday season is just plain tough. Always my favorite time of year, it holds even more value and precious memories now. My Mom loved making this time so special for me, a gift I’ll always treasure as I do the same for my family in the coming years.
But the holidays should be more than gifts, more than Christmas lights and dare I say it, music. These beautiful days should be about the joy that radiates in each of us. The precious time and moments we create with family and friends, especially as some of us are making new memories with families of our own. We should remember the gift of being fortunate enough to have food on the table. All of these details are constant reminders living 4,875 miles from our family and friends on the east coast. These are just some little things to think about and if you can, live by. I am wishing you a JOYous season as these Hawaiians head back to the Northeast. A holiday season filled with the moments and memories that never go away…after all, they are the sweetest. It is sure to be a very wonderful season indeed.
Merry Christmas to all, and to all a good night! ☺
